TACHOT

GOAL

Our goal was to create an experience that feels both intriguing and challenging to decipher. Each object in the hotel features custom hieroglyphs that describe its function. For example, the door key includes hieroglyphs that hint at what’s inside the room, and the soap packaging displays hieroglyphs indicating the type of soap. This approach allowed us to build a cohesive and engaging design language that was both fascinating and fun to expand upon.

SOLUTION

Following our decision to focus on hieroglyphs, we conducted in-depth research on the ancient language originating from Egypt. We developed a color palette that evokes the essence of ancient Egypt and carefully studied the design of the ancient symbols.

CHALLENGE

As part of our branding course, we were asked to choose a theme for a hotel and develop a branding language for it. We selected hieroglyphs as our theme. Hieroglyphs are characters or graphic symbols that form pictorial representations, primarily of animals or objects. These characters were the foundation of an ancient writing system, which was adapted for engraving on clay, stone, or wood.

We chose hieroglyphs because we find them to be a fascinating source for exploring the evolution of language and design as a whole. Following our research, we were tasked with creating a cohesive and captivating design language that effectively conveys the hotel's theme.
